Bullwrinkle is a curious young Shar Pei who finds himself in funny predicaments that teach him valuable lessons. As the story begins, Bullwrinkle and his two best friends, Henry and Hudson, are playing ball at their local park, unaware that one of them will soon come face-to-face with a stinky, slimy, and scuzzy monster. The Mud Monster!Â
When kids play outside, a toy will inevitably land on the roof or the road. One of the many safety lessons we teach our children is never to wander onto roadways or climb onto roofs. We also instruct them not to wander off alone. The last one is due to danger from strangers and wild animals or to missteps that could cause them to be hurt, stranded, or lost. When the trio were playing ball, the toy soared overhead and landed in the woods, an off-limits location. When Bullwrinkle entered the woods, he knew he was violating a mother's rule but chose to do so anyway.Â
Bullwrinkle defied his mom's commands and was now in a sticky situation. Should he lie or fess up? Bullwrinkle could've spun an elaborate tale to explain the caked-on mud, but he knew honesty was the best policy. He also knew lying would only get him into trouble with his mom. While owning up to mistakes and telling the truth can be frightening, lying is never the route to go.Â
Bullwrinkle's adventure in the woods teaches children a few important life lessons. First, parents make rules for a reason. They are meant to protect kids from harm and keep them out of trouble. Next, when you lie, you break your parent's trust in you. Lying also leads to bigger and longer punishments. While telling the truth can be difficult, parents will respect you for owning up to your mistakes. Three, never wander off alone!
The three life lessons should be introduced and reinforced at a young age. Share this adventurous story with your child and teach them the importance of following rules, being honest, and staying safe. Remember to ask your kid(s) if they think the Mud Monster was real or imaginary.

Bullwrinkle has a big personality and is overly excited. When he's taken by surprise, the pup's favorite catchphrase is "Great Jelly Donut." I bet, in no time flat, the catchphrase will be heard daily in your house.Â
