The Midas Effect: A technothriller (English edition) by Manuel Dorado takes the old story of King Midas and the golden touch and turns it on its head. In this story, the idea is expanded to include anything that the person with the power wants. Our focus is on a young professor who has found that he can make any dream that he has into a reality, any desire or want can be his for the taking. Obviously, this sort of power will not go unnoticed for long and soon different government agencies are tracking him with the intention of using him for their own goals. But, can you control someone who can actually control anything he wants?
I found this to be a very interesting story that moves at a fast pace. The characters are well developed, and the story does a nice job of creating something new while paying tribute to the source material. The translations were done nicely and it was a very enjoyable read. If you enjoy thrillers or mythology, this will be a great read for you.

The Midas Effect: A technothriller (English edition) by Manuel Dorado has a rather unique premise of being able to turn your imagination into reality. That's a great start to this book and one that is executed well. The characters are well developed and the storyline flows easily as different elements are added from the CIA to NASA. This book is a twist on the classic Midas story, building and expanding upon that theme. Fun to read, engaging, and the translation from Spanish to English was done well too. Dive into this unique and interesting book to experience the fascinating concept of getting everything you could ever imagine. Highly recommend.

The Midas Effect: A technothriller by Manuel Dorado. In this book, a University professor can make real everything he imagines, and of course, when the world starts to see his don they want him to get their virtue to their own use. So all secret and not-so-secret agencies try to get a hold of him and what he needs to do to escape all these people and stay free of obstruction to his endeavor to pursue what is right with his gift. The characters are well described, the pace is quick and steady and the plot is funny and interesting. I recommend this book to everyone that wants to pass some enjoyable reading hours.

As part of the name suggests, The Midas Effect is a technothriller that delves into the world of supernatural abilities, particularly the ancient Greek myth of King Midas. The protagonist, Miguel Le Fablec, experiences mysterious headaches intertwined with his aeronautical research and a chance encounter with American researcher Monica. The novel provides a modern interpretation of the ancient myth, delving into themes such as power, ambition, love, betrayal, and crime.

Manuel skillfully incorporates mathematics and physics to explain the scientific probability of these god-like abilities, paralleling the folklore of King Midas. It further digs deeper into the implications of such powers on individuals and society, touching on the intersection of science and religion. Conflicting beliefs between characters, one atheist and the other a Roman Catholic scientist, add this depth to the narrative.

It starts off as an awfully slow-paced read for my liking as the author's writing style, while immersive, occasionally becomes bogged down with flowery language and nonessential descriptions. However, the final chapters redeem the pacing and writing, showcasing a well-planned plot twist. Character development is well-executed for the most part, though some characters did not quite meet my expectations, specifically the primary antagonist. I felt a lack of connection to him.

The Midas Effect by Manuel Dorado is a techno-thriller based on old folklore turned science fiction. Miguel Le Fablec comes to the United States of America as an engineer. Before he even steps foot on our land, he appears as something unique. Assuming that he can make his imagination become a reality. This gift is also a curse; The Midas Paradox.

I found The Midas Effect interesting. Manuel Dorado carefully sets up the plot and characters, then picks up the pace to an incredible speed. This novel takes you down a path of regret, deceit, and integrity. Science lovers would enjoy this novel as Miguel works hard to perfect his gift. Will the Midas Effect be used for good or evil? And will Miguel and his partner have a say in what they do? The twist at the end is mind-blowing as everything that was happening shifts.

The Midas Effect: A technothriller it’s the English edition of a Spanish book that was very popular and even won some national awards. The translation is nicely done and it doesn’t seem to affect the quality of the story. Manuel Dorado delivers a great premise turning it into a solid story with well-built characters, starting from a very famous legend: the Midas touch. The story is a bit slow almost until the middle but it then picks up the pace and starts to be engaging and a real page-turner.

The author Manuel Dorado has expertly presented an emotional dilemma for the readers in his novel The Midas Effect. What happens when we get everything we want in a tech heavy world? The writer intelligently added a twist to the conventional Midas story and gave it an impressive finish. All the characters are well-built with a captivating narration.
The author is Spanish and wrote the novel in his native language. Fortunately, translators interpret the words brilliantly. It is a fun read, and for readers who love to read innovative stories, The Midas Effect is a classic book.

A well-thought-out and written might-be, about what could be a modern God. Though as we all know, if another one turned up, there'd be secret agents and dastardly plans within days. The story is well written, well worth a four and maybe five, and then the ending is a definite five.

"Great read! Highly recommend it. It's a book that is hard to put down from beginning to end full of tension and intrigue. It's set in the USA, Spain an Egypt. It combines the CIA, police investigations, the power of the mind, the power of religion and many other ingredients to make it a truly exciting read. I got through it in 4 days!

It's also interesting and nice to see that some successful writers 2.0 like @manueldorado are able to publish their work successfully by-passing the traditional publishing route!"
