"The Doggy Doctor and the Upset Tummy" is a children's picture book about a vet and her sick doggy patient.
I don't normally read children's books, but my little niece was staying with me and she begged me to pick this book. And I must say the entire read was a delight for both her and myself. I think I have memorized the whole book from the number of times she's made me read it to her. She now wants to become a "doggy doctor".
I must say, "The Doggy Doctor and the Upset Tummy" makes me smile a lot. I know it's only a few pages, but a few pages of the type of feel-good read that makes your heart flutter from the sheer cuteness of it. The pictures are lovely, the rhymes wonderful, and the story very fun. The doggy doctor has a dog and a cat as her crew who perform surgeries with her and I found that to be absolutely adorable.
I think it's wonderful for kids to read books with capable women who love their jobs and are having fun in life. I know my generation could not experience this. I loved this book so much I would read any other stories about this doctor and her crew with or without my niece. I asked my niece to rate this book and she gave it five full stars and said that it was funny. And that the dog was funny. And that she loved the dog! The only problem with the book was that it was not longer!
Fair warning though, you child will start performing "x-rays" on your poor old dog and insist on getting him surgery. I recommend this book for animal loving children and adults looking for some adorable, joy inducing picture book.
I'm a passionate reader and reviewer who is always looking for new books to love. I've been reviewing professionally since 2015, and read a very wide range of books. I've always made it a priority to spotlight indie authors on my blog. And I can often be found spilling tea on my favorite books.
