A precious book brimming with life lessons that could spark a much-needed change in a young person’s heart.
Bob was known as the second-grade bully and took pride in knowing that his classmates were afraid of him.
His teacher, Mrs. Rose, prayed that she would know what to do.
She told Bob that each day Jesus gives us is a chance to start anew.
Bob still didn't care. To him, Jesus was just an imaginary man.
I couldn’t find sufficient words to recommend this book to parents and guardians who wanted to introduce to their young ones the reality of God’s love. The Day Bob Saw Jesus by Lindi Juarez is an amazing story that has captured my heart, reminding me of God’s true presence and unfailing compassion for all of His children.
Narrated through attractive illustrations and the use of rhymes, this book is a great instrument that could help children visualize the reality of Jesus. The young ones can picture in their minds how it must be like to have Jesus see all the things that they do. Sometimes, it is only by knowing that someone witnesses your life that you’re able to reflect on your actions. Are your actions hurting other people? Do you feel proud of the things that you have done? How would you feel if Jesus were to see how you treat those around you?
This book would not only spark a child’s imagination but it would also invoke conversations. Children are inquisitive by nature and the story of Bob and his teacher, Mrs. Rose could invite many questions arising from the child’s own mind. I believe this is one of the aims of the author, and through this, the value of this book greatly expands as it becomes a door for other lessons to be learned.
Another thing that I loved about this book was the way the teacher tried to introduce Jesus to Bob. She did not present Him as an angry God who should be the source of one’s fears, but a loving God who cares for His children.
I think this is a key that could heal our brokenness, even the many troubles that children go through. While we should not present bullies as victims of their situation, we can consider the remedy of love and acceptance that everyone is looking for. Through our prayers, sacrifice and the witness of our lives, hearts can be touched and changed.
Let the story of the prodigal son be told through this book again as it touches the coldest heart, rendering it capable of receiving the Father’s unfailing love.
