Rawry was a T-Rex whose superpower was his amazing smile. When Rawry met anyone, he flashed his enormous, bright white chompers. He didn't squeak out his name but proudly roared it out.
Rawry's personality didn't resemble a tyrannosaurus you've seen in movies. He was a friendly dinosaur who helped others, brushed his teeth, and tidied up his room.
He was a typical kid; like an ordinary kid, he lost his baby teeth. Rawry couldn't fathom why or how his pearly white tooth fell out. He did everything right. He feared his superpower was poof...gone. The illustration of Rawry holding his tooth, tears teetering on the edge of falling down his cheek, was touching.
Rawry had a plan to set things right. He was going to paste the tooth back in place using toothpaste. His plan sounded good, but unfortunately, it failed. Rawry was not to be deterred. He wanted every cavity filled. His next attempt was comical. Rawry thought outside the box. Kids will laugh at which vegetable he used to fill the vacant spot.
Rawry, feeling blue, was comforted by his mother. She explained we all lose teeth; it's a part of growing up. She reassured him that his "superpower" still resides inside him regardless of how many teeth are in his mouth. His mother's words made Rawry feel a thousand times better. With tears not clouding his eyes, he could see what he didn't see before...a new tooth sprouting.
Rawry's Missing Tooth teaches children how to problem solve. As you read the book, ask your young listener what other methods the dinosaur could've used to affix the tooth to the open slot. Please encourage them to share any idea, from plausible to outrageous.
Losing teeth is a significant milestone in every child's life. This book would be perfect for a child who has a wiggly tooth or has just recently lost one.
