A beautiful rags to riches type story, from the animal shelter to adopted into a family, this story is sure to delight readers of all ages!
Dogs are people too! At least that's what Cooper the rescue dog believes. This funny picture book will have children laughing as they learn about kindness to animals and pet adoption.
Please Don’t Tell Cooper He’s a Dog is written by Michelle Lander Feinberg and illustrated by Anna Mosca. Feinberg has five children and her dog Cooper, who are the inspiration behind this story.
Please Don’t Tell Cooper He’s a Dog is a hilarious story about Cooper, who is rescued from an animal shelter. The family immediately falls in love with Cooper and they include him in everything they do. One thing that you need to know about Cooper, “Please don’t whistle or ask him to do a few tricks as he thinks it’s beneath him to chase balls or sticks.” Cooper is not aware he is a dog and telling him might lead to some obnoxious behavior.
This book is sure to delight readers of all ages. Anyone with a dog will relate to Cooper thinking that he is a person. With its lyrical rhymes and Cooper’s antics, the youngest reader will be engaged and begging for the story to be read again! The whimsical and vivid illustrations bring Cooper to life. I love how the author brings home the point that a stray puppy can and should be considered a part of the family.
This book gets 5 out of 5 paw prints for its originality, creativity, positive message, delightful illustrations, and the giggles it is sure to produce! I highly recommend Please Don’t Tell Cooper He’s a Dog to anyone with young children and early elementary-aged children. It would make a wonderful addition to any home, school, or public library.
I am an avid book reader (book addict), I could literally spend all day reading and not get bored. I love learning new things through reading. *I prefer conservative books without profanity or explicit content.*

Michelle believes that a great children’s story is one that is entertaining and that also has a subtle lesson. She hopes her young readers come away from Please Don’t Tell Cooper That Jack is a Rabbit learning the importance of friendship and that friends should celebrate their differences. view profile
