Pigs and mud go together like peanut butter and jelly. They love frolicking in it, even though the act causes quite the stink. Pink Pink the pig was happy playing in his mud puddle; his fellow barnyard friends didn't share the oinker's excitement. They thought the pig needed a good scrub to squash his unpleasant aroma. Pink Pink disagreed. He loved his scent and provided a positive benefit from covering himself in the muck.
Pink Pink loved coating his body in mud, but, by the humorous illustration, the pig seemed to enjoy the bubble bath just as much. Inside or outside, the oinker couldn't help but make a mess, and thanks to a storm, the pig wasn't the only one ending the story dirty and "as smelly as a skunk." Kids will laugh at the animals having fun in the big field of fun and might share stories about their pets' love of playing in mud.
Amazon's suggested reading age is 3-6 years. For comprehension and group discussions, this is a great age range; the book also offers educational benefits for toddlers. It's an excellent tool for teaching toddlers the names and sounds of farm animals. Colors, too!
Pink Pink, You Stink! is a wonderful picture book that uses playful rhymes and colorful, amusing imagery to teach preschoolers and first graders that there's fun to be had in the unlikely places. The story offers an opportunity to discuss how the young listener(s) would approach a friend who didn't "smell like roses" and how to address the situation without hurting a friend's feelings. Plus, thanks to the simple text, it would make an excellent story for budding readers.
For the most part, Pink Pink, You Stink! met the recommended reading age of 3-6 years. I noted only one challenging grouping of words. That aside, it is an enjoyable book that your child will want to read over and over again.
