Many people strive to look beautiful on the outside and lose sight of what true beauty is. True beauty comes from what's in your heart: the kindness you share and the love you have for who you are.
In Penelope and the Vase, the darling child would stare at her reflection, searching for a glimmer of beauty. Penelope would make note of her "imperfect" physical traits and then leave the bathroom depressed. After (literally) stumbling on a glowing golden vase and meeting a mysterious young child, Penelope thought her wish would come true. This magical vase grants a wish, and Penelope knows just what to ask it: She wishes to become beautiful. As quickly as the stranger appeared, they vanished with these four words: "Beauty comes from within." Like a genie's magic lamp, the shimmering vase comes with rules. Penelope can cancel her wish, but it's not as simple as saying, "I don't want to be pretty anymore." Read Penelope and the Vase to find out how to break a wish!
Penelope thought her life would be better if she were beautiful but soon realized her outer appearance did not change how people looked at her. This is where the moral of the story emerges. You can change your hair and clothing, but you cannot change what's in your heart. How you treat others speaks volumes. Be kind to others, and your beauty will shine!
We all come in different colors and sizes. Being a different shade, having blemishes, missing a body part, having crooked teeth, and so forth doesn't change who we are on the inside. Love yourself. Be kind to others. Take risks. Laugh. Every positive move you make, every kind word or act you do, lets others see the beauty within.
There were a couple of minor editing mistakes, but those didn't diminish the positive message. I recommended Penelope and the Vase to kids 4 years and up.
