NORTH: A Magical Friendship Story is a unique, beautifully illustrated children's book where the North Wind, the North Star, and the Northern Lights unite to bring new friends to the North Pole.
The artist (Erin O'Leary Brown) has done a remarkable job bringing the three key characters to life. The illustrations are so vivid that you can almost feel the breeze flowing through and from The North Wind. The North Star definitely lit up the page, and the Northern Lights were bathed in color from her head to the tips of her flats. It's a visual treat that will capture a child's attention!
The Three Old Friends became close and got to know each other well, as well as their Arctic animal friends: fox, hare, snowy owl, reindeer, walrus, narwhal, and polar bear. However, the North trio had a similar wish: to make new friends. Kids and adults will laugh at the collage of animals who would not be happy living in the frigid temperatures. The house cat's facial expression sums up how they feel about the winter wonderland. I love the cat's hat and mittens! Very cute!
The North Star asks the North Wind, "What makes a good friend?" The story's author, J.R. Buchta, lists some characteristics, but it's a great question to ask your young audience. The artist's skill shone bright in the trio's collaborative effort to create new friends. It's a lovely and super creative way to teach kids about friendship and teamwork. Have your kids guess who they think might be showing up at the North Pole before the big unveil(s)!
A visually stunning holiday-themed children's book that not only teaches the power of teamwork but is also perfect for adding a touch of magic to your holiday traditions. Make it a part of your holiday read-alouds and create cherished memories that will last for years to come!
My recommended reading age is 9 years and under.
