The cute storyline, the diverse cast, and the scrapbooking pages make this book a perfect gift for your graduate!
A perfect gift for preschool and kindergarten graduates, this precious rhyming story celebrates one of the most special milestones in a child’s life: graduation. A heartwarming and jaunty text and cheerful illustrations applaud the many things a young child should be proud of with this accomplishment. From learning values such as being kind, sharing, and taking turns to life skills such as making friends, learning from mistakes, and teamwork, the story affirms that a year of hard work and dedication is a time to be honored.
The back of the book contains extra pages for special ways to commemorate the occasion including graduation wishes from friends, classmates, teachers, and family; an area to share dreams and aspirations; and blank spaces to save photographs for years to come. The book is a wonderful gift and can also be used as a celebratory classroom activity for classmates to fill in together.
Children will have many milestones, including (but not limited to) first step, first word, first dance, and first school day of school. We immortalize these moments and many others by snapping photos, videotaping them, or writing about them in a journal. Let's Celebrate You!: A Graduation Keepsake for Little Graduates includes pages documenting the big day. Ask or help your child fill in the lines starting with their name and age. Work together to complete the "Let's Celebrate You!" questionnaire. I bet every caregiver learns something new about their child. Ask family members, classmates, and teachers to share congratulatory messages or sign their names on the graduation wishes page. But before you do all that, read the story!
In this sweet and fun read, the narrator shares and celebrates how much the children have grown intellectually and socially. They've learned to play well with others in class, sports, and during recess. Students learn that when the going gets tough, you don't give up; instead, keep trying! They are encouraged to follow their dreams and show gratitude. This story celebrates how far children have come during their school year.
Your child's school year might not resemble the fictional one, but I bet it comes close. Ask your child if there were any similarities between their school days and those highlighted in the story. While the twelve fill-in-the-blank focuses on a child's future goals, encourage your kid to discuss the past year. What was their favorite field trip? Story? Subject?
I was thrilled to see different skin tones represented. It was also nice to see a child in a wheelchair playing basketball with his friends. The cute storyline, the diverse cast, and the scrapbooking pages make this book a perfect gift for your graduate.
Amazon's recommended reading age is 4-8 years. Since small children typically graduate pre-k and kindergarten, I suggest gifting this book to those students.
I've been constructing reviews for over a decade and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Most of the reviews will be featured on my blog (Kam's Place), Pinterest, Instagram, BlueSky, and Goodreads. Don't forget to tip your waitress! :D
