It's a motivational book on making your dreams come true and daring to follow those dreams. Just few lessons that I've learned not only in playing poker, but in life. How to develop the power to reach your goals in poker and in life.

It isnât always easy I welcome everyone to imagine great possibilities. To achieve your goals in life, you must believe all things are possible, all goals are achievable, if you are truly focused, prepared, and trained. That focus comes from having clarity and knowing what you want to achieve. Thatâs when you can clearly see your goals at the end of tunnel. All victories in achieving goals require preparation. When you practice, rehearse, train, and perform those activities necessary to achieve your poker goals, then you are on the right path. Enjoy lifeâs detours Sometimes when traveling this path towards your goals, you may have unforeseen obstacles along the way. These obstacles often cause detours. Donât see this as a negative! Instead, learn to enjoy the scenery while on your detour. On a detour you can make many friends and acquire new skills along your journey. During this time being off your path, you will often gain your greatest insights, and enhance your strength and your determination. Finding inspiration Many people have had to move off the pathway towards their lifeâs goals. Muhammad Ali, the 20th-century professional fighter, was on the road to becoming the âHeavyweight Champion of the Worldâ but had to detour, thanks to the Draft Board during the Vietnam War. Thanks to racial bias that put him in prison for 27 years, Nelson Mandela of Africa went on a long detour before becoming the President of South Africa. I myself was on my way to becoming a highly paid IT professional when I had a detour caused by the United States Army. But it was there I learned new skills and met new friends. The power of Faith While being off your desired path, you will realize that it is the hunger for your goals that will put you back on the right path. Your journey may be long, you may even become lost at some point, even lose your determination. In these moments of desperation, it is essential to have a leap of faith. Faith is the power within your heart, deep down in your soul, the place where your being starts, and dreams are borne. Faith is what it takes to do the impossible. It will be this Faith that will take you beyond your perceived limits, beyond your current strength. It is by this Faith that you will learn to move beyond your biggest dreams. It is why you will dare to go where your dreams will take you. Faith is how you get where you want to be and reach your goals in life, be it in poker or anything else. Keep the Faith!
The blurb promises a motivational book centered around the realization of our dreams. In Imagine Your Winning Possibilities: A Poker Player's Key Insights by poker player Bernard Maiden, lessons are unveiled to place you in a better position to win at both poker, and in life. The lessons themselves arenât groundbreaking but they are the types of pointers we have to be reminded of every now and again. Is this book going to make you rich? No! Is it going to give you the winning formulas for winning poker hands? Certainly not! What it will do is ask you to connect with your spiritual self. It will ask you to think happy thoughts, seek gratitude, and to believe in yourself.

The writing may be short and sweet, but it maintains a positive tone throughout. Each of the seven chapters are focused on Maiden and involve him sharing anecdotes about his experiences. Starting with a series of rhetorical questions, Maiden is basically asking you to take stock of what it is you actually want and start manifesting it. There is a lot to be said for reframing situations in ways that eradicate negativity. This leads on to an understanding of Maidenâs early life, the âragsâ so to speak. Maiden shares a portion of his early life that sees him accepting unexpected opportunities. As he continues, his lessons lead you on a journey where he doesnât necessarily find financial riches, but he is rich all the same.

It may not have been intended, but the jovial humor made me chuckle. I found myself reading quips like, âAlso, I learned that to Iowans, 10 degrees is just âa little chillyâ day. Thatâs because the four seasons are almost winter, winter, still winterâŚand road constructionâ repeatedly.

Having raved about the good points, itâs only fair to address some of the points that could do with some improvement. The book is clearly a self-published title. Usually this is apparent in the writing, although for this text, it was the amateur illustrating that gave the game away. Although the pictures are on theme, stock photos accompany the paragraphs in a haphazard way. There is no logic in the sizing and placement. Frankly, this is a case where less would have been more.
Ignoring the text, the book is for the spiritual, the positive, the ones trying to be positive, and people who work too hard for too little. Itâs a book that will find a home with people who need hope and permission to dream. Itâs unlikely to interest teens, but there is no profanity or sensitive language that keeps them from reading Imagine Your Winning Possibilities: A Poker Player's Key Insights. If you proceed to read, get ready for an attitude change.
