Beautiful illustrations and easy to manage concepts makes this a must read for any young reader!
The third picture book in their "Womb to BLOOM to Classroom" series, "Heads or Tails?" begins with the story of Zoey Zebra and her best friend P.B., the panda bear. They discover a treasure chest left for Zoey by her grandpa. When the two friends open the chest, it’s filled with hundreds of keys. Each key opens a new treasure chest that unlocks one key to knowledge and wisdom … two very different things. "Heads or Tails?" teaches children adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and the mathematical concept of binomial. This series has over 50 beautifully illustrated books by artist Kimmo Hellström, on Mathematics, Science, Zoology, Literature, and more.

The authors advocate reading to a child in utero and beyond, naming their company, "Womb to BLOOM to Classroom". We now know that prenatal babies can hear and react to words and sounds and that 85% of a child’s brain develops by the age of 4! The family believes, and the research supports, reading to children fosters imagination, while entertaining, educating, elevating, and inspiring them to love reading and learning.
Heads or Tails is book three in the Womb to Bloom to Classroom series, written by Ramona Palmer and her son, Kurtis. There are over fifty books in this series, covering Mathematics, Science, Zoology, and more. These lovely books are illustrated by Kimmo Hellstrom.
In Heads or Tails, Zoey and her friends have been housebound for seven days because of rain. They are ready for a new adventure. They set off with grandpa’s note and the silver key with a seven on it. In the note containing clues, Grandpa has also put a positive message for Zoey, and she in turn also praises her friends. This book includes some interesting science facts about flowers and seeds, in addition to the math that the friends are learning.
I enjoy the lovely illustrations and the caring and kind way the friends interact with each other. This is very refreshing as it teaches children cooperation and kindness. Even though it is not explicitly stated, it is also sweet how much Zoey’s grandfather cared for her and her friends, and the thoughtfulness in which he wrote the letters.
I would highly recommend Heads or Trails to young children to about third grade. With the lovely illustrations and easy breakdown of concepts, this book will make a lovely addition to any home library and school library. I look forward to seeing where the next book takes us!
I am an avid book reader (book addict), I could literally spend all day reading and not get bored. I love learning new things through reading. *I prefer conservative books without profanity or explicit content.*
