*Harmonic Being: An Introspective Journey* is a guide for those who sense that something deeper underlies human experience — and want a framework to explore it.
Drawing on biofield science, consciousness research, and the author's lifelong work with energy and perception, the book maps the territory between body, mind, and the field that surrounds and connects them.
Running through the work as a unifying thread are five pivotal breathwork exercises, each connected to one of the classical elements — a practice dimension that grounds the introspective journey in the body itself.
It does not ask readers to adopt a belief system. It asks them to pay attention.
Written by a bodywork and biofield therapist with decades of direct practice, *Harmonic Being* speaks to the growing number of people who stand at the edge of conventional understanding and are ready to step further in.

Before we begin, I want to share something from my heart: this book isn't meant to be an exhaustive collection of wisdom. I wouldn’t be so arrogant as to consider myself some prophetic cosmic soul. Quite the contrary in many aspects. Rather, think of it as an opportunity, an invitation to explore the deeper mysteries of your own existence. Of our existence. Take what resonates, let it settle within you, and allow it to guide you toward your own discoveries. Our culture has led us to look outside of ourselves, with a mind-boggling array of options to choose from along the way. This, for me anyway, became a stumbling block in itself as I established my own spiritual identity. In a world of algorithms and spiritual snake oil that promises a rescue mission, it’s very easy to become lost in a narrative that becomes nothing more than a January sale gym membership with a very short shelf life. We can all too easily lean into not just looking for answers to some of life’s bigger questions, but for validation.
The common denominator we all share is the experience of life; we are all connected in that space, and everything else hangs from that. Every one of the 4,000-plus religions, 10,000 cults, every esoteric spell and thought we have hangs from the consciousness we all share. To accept ourselves is alignment. Sometimes it is best to just stop there and focus on that. That is a win in a world that tells us we are never quite enough.
I see things and experience energies in ways those around me generally don't. They feel normal to me as they were formative memories. I became aware from a very young age that I didn't quite "fit in". Other children were wary of me, and adults often felt uncomfortable in my company. I felt this before I knew what feeling even was. I would stare too long as I read person’s vibration. It is what all children do. I just did it with the volume turned up, it seemed.I experienced things, sensations, and saw things that were abstract and visible, but I knew they were not of human origin or form. Sometimes these things happened when I was on my own, and on other occasions not — they were shared experiences. Stranger things. Things that others can't get their heads around or are fearful of, so it is easier just to dismiss them. But these are my memories, this is my life lived, and I make no apologies for any of it and have lost the need for validation a long time ago. I am grateful for them as they have led me to here, now, and I wouldn't change a thing.
It started with the breath. Or rather, the stopping of it.1968: The Calling I had just had my evening bath. I still recall every detail of that bathroom and the plastic green and yellow soap dish that floated in the warm bubbly water that smelt of vanilla. I could hear my mother humming to herself in the bathroom next door, adjacent to her bedroom, busy clearing up the mess I had made, splashing about just as a happy child should. She had wrapped me in a towel and placed me on the floor in her bedroom in front of a heater. My immediate world smelt of baby powder and felt like love. I was comfortably sleepy, enjoying the warm air. It was 1968, so I was heading for my third birthday or thereabouts. In an instant, something pierced the bubble I was cocooned in, and I felt alert. Aware. Startled even. That's the only way I can describe it. Something had tuned into my psyche and had my attention. I stood up, and the towel fell from my tiny shoulders. I turned and left the comfort of my mother's bedroom. My mother remained busy in the bathroom. I remember in my peripheral vision I could see her leaning over the bath as she cleaned it. I headed along the hallway into the immediate vicinity of what was my brother’s bedroom. I remember the door was slightly open, and I pushed it and the darkness within felt ominous. I entered without a second thought and climbed onto the bed that was under the window. I remember reaching up for the windowsill, and it was ice cold to the touch, made of a terracotta-like tile. I stood on tiptoe, a little slip of a man with moonlight for company, and that brought me level with the window with its squares of glass and curly wrought iron handles. It was thin single- pane glass. None of the ugly PVC nonsense back in the day. And as I stood looking into the inky black night sky, a large face slowly came up level with mine on the other side of the window, an inch or so from me. It looked huge. It was at least double the size of my own head. I felt its very being as you would any other living creature. We stared at each other. I became aware of its disc-like black eyes, featureless with no lids or lashes. Below was a nose nub that was more like slits, and below that, I remember its small lipless mouth. His face had what I've always thought of and recall as scales that were different sizes with a dark green and brown hue. About the face hung either side what I'd come to describe decades later as dreadlocks, long before I had any idea what dreadlocks were or had even seen them, but when I did it instantly pulled me back to this memory. Again, these had a green tinge to them. And I'm still quite confident that he was wearing some kind of light hood or cloak. I say "he" because whatever it was had a distinct dominant energy. Not a scary one. But dominant, masculine is the only way I can describe it. Devoid of features. It was quite difficult to work out what this being was thinking or what his intentions were. Or much of anything other than I felt observed as we stared at each other. To this day, even in my own bedroom, at night if it is dark outside, I will often have a quick glance, just to be sure there is nothing outside.
I have spent many hours over the years reading up on what it was that I saw, and it really depends on who you talk to and what your thought process is, as to exactly what it was that I encountered. What I do know is that this experience has been shared by different people in different parts of the world. They all speak of similar clairvoyant interactions and talk of reptoid- like beings; many say that they are interdimensional beings. Others say that they live in the bowels of the Earth. Another would say they are both things. I don’t know, and to be honest, I am not an expert on reptilian humanoids, nor do I feel a need to be. That was my first conscious memory of seeing something that apparently doesn't exist. It wouldn't be my last.
The Silver Cord
By the time I was four or five, I had other experiences that isolated me further. I would wake at night, not in my bed, but far out in space, floating in a foetal position, aware of and seeing the blueness of Earth far below. I was attached to a fine silver thread that remained tethered to me. At this age, I was far from being a religious scholar. Yet I remain intrigued that the image of a "silver cord" appears in Ecclesiastes 12:6 as a metaphor for the ending of life. In later mystical and contemplative traditions, the silver cord has been a way of describing the connection between physical existence and altered states of consciousness. It is also possible that such imagery reflects older symbolic teachings that predate the biblical text, drawing on long-standing traditions in which life and breath were the focus. These memories are indelible, even though they occurred during my preschool years, before I knew that many others had similar stories and experiences that mirrored my own. I didn't know it then, but I was travelling astrally, drifting not from life, but toward something that would take decades to understand: that our true journey is not measured by age, distance, or achievement, but by how deeply we are willing to listen, to be aware. The boy who floated through other realms wasn't escaping; he was remembering. I was experiencing consciousness moving through dimensional layers that most people never access while embodied. The ninth dimension isn't just a theoretical construct. It's a frequency. And everything that exists — every version of you, every possible timeline, every alternate universe with its own physical laws — is all vibrating right here, right now, separated not by distance but by dimensional frequency. The silver cord I experienced wasn't keeping me trapped in my body. It was my lifeline, the connection that allowed me to explore other dimensions and return safely. It was an umbilical cord of light, stretching through the ether.
The Spectrum of Perception
When I first began working with energy as an adult, people would ask me to prove what I was sensing. They’d say, “Show me the healing,” or “Let me see the light you're talking about.” I'd smile, because the question itself says a lot about what we’d all forgotten: that seeing isn't the only way of knowing. Consider the science of our own biology. Without wanting to be too technical, our eyes perceive light frequencies between roughly 430 and 790 terahertz, the range of visible light. This includes the colours of a sunset, the green of leaves, the blue of the sea. Our ears can hear sound vibrations between 20 and 20,000 Hertz, from a child’s laughter to a piano concerto, to the crack of thunder and a bubbling brook. What strikes me is how narrow these ranges are. They represent a mere fraction of what we know exists, of what is happening around us at any given moment. The electromagnetic spectrum stretches infinitely beyond what our eyes can register. Sound waves move through matter at frequencies far below and above what our ears can detect. The universe is awash with light and vibration we will never see or hear, yet it shapes us, moves through us, sustains us. I've always found it fascinating how effortlessly people accept and depend on intangible forces like electricity, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth — elements that power our modern technological world. Yet, they often overlook energy, frequency, and vibration as mere mystical notions. A taboo subject. Think about the information exchange between a smartphone and a tower. It’s impossible to go anywhere within a public domain where the majority are not glued to a smart phone or connected to radio waves. The radio waves we use via our mobile devices are part of the electromagnetic wave spectrum and travel at the speed of light. Radio waves are just like light waves. They're both electromagnetic waves carried by photons. Simply put, a photon is a tiny packet of energy that carries light. Photons have no mass and always travel at the speed of light in a vacuum. They are how energy moves through space without needing matter. Photons are constantly interacting with us. Light from the sun reaches us as photons. Although we are not made of light, we live through light, sustained by continuous exchanges of energy that allow matter to organise, respond, and remain alive. We are living in a sea of data we cannot see. Just because we cannot see a text message travelling through the air to our phone doesn't mean it isn't real. Just because you cannot see the radio waves carrying a song doesn't mean the music isn't playing. So, when I saw that face at the window in 1968, or when I woke up floating in space, was I hallucinating? Or was I simply tuning into a bandwidth that my young, unconditioned mind hadn't yet learned to filter out? Understanding this won't just explain unusual experiences like mine. It will help you make sense of your own life, relieve the anxiety that comes from living disconnected from your energetic nature, and remember that the present moment is the only power you actually have.
Redefining Air: The Breath of Life
This brings us to the first element of our journey: Air. Most of us move through our days thinking of air simply as oxygen, a term that only entered our vocabulary in the late 18th century when a French chemist Antoine Lavoisier identified this life-sustaining element. He named it from the Greek words “oxys”, meaning acid, and “genes” meaning “producer” or “begetter”. He mistakenly thought it was a vital component in all acids, but the word stuck, as these things do, and we now refer to oxygen and air as one and the same. While this discovery was revolutionary for its time, it somehow narrowed our perception of air to just its chemical composition. This relatively recent shift in thinking represents a fraction of humanity's long relationship with this vital element. Considering his discoveries regarding oxygen were only 250 years ago, it is good to wonder for a moment what life must have been like in a world without any basic knowledge of the sciences. Or did they have much more knowledge than is widely thought? Ancient civilizations certainly were aware of the importance of air and breathing. They knew that air was a life-giving force and associated it with the divine breath of life. So, while they didn't know about oxygen in the scientific sense, they recognised the significance of air for life and health. In wisdom traditions across the globe, this understanding runs deep. It's no coincidence that in many languages, the words for breath, spirit, and life force are interchangeable: the Latin spiritus, the Sanskrit prana, the Chinese chi, the Greek pneuma. All point to this fundamental truth: breath is our ongoing dialogue with life itself. What enables us to live this seemingly insular life yet be part of a global population of over 8.1 billion people? We all share a precious ether. With each breath we take, we are engaging in perhaps life's most sacred relationship, one that began the moment our first umbilical cord was severed. In that transformative instant, breath stepped in as our new connection, our living thread to Earth Mother Gaia. This isn't merely poetic imagery; it's a tangible truth that binds every moment of our existence together. To each other. The air we breathe is part of an exquisite tapestry. Every inhalation connects us to this living system, making air not just a physical necessity, but our most primal bridge to the world aroundus. That same air that fills your lungs in this moment has cycled through countless forms of life, through ancient redwoods and deep oceans, carrying within it not just oxygen but prana, the subtle life force that flows through all things. Everything remains connected if you stay silent long enough to connect with life source energy. This brings me back to the subject matter of oxygen. It isn't limitless. It's abundant yes, but not infinite. The oxygen we breathe today is part of a vast ongoing cycle that has been replenished and reused over millions of years so in a way, we do share the same oxygen as our ancestors. When we truly learn to breathe, you gain a certain ability to connect with the tangible nuances that exist around us in the breeze and through the dappled light through the trees or the sound of waves smoothing sand. To me, this is sacrament. This is my church and my religion.
Vibrational Linguistics & The Mind
If breath is the hardware, thought is the software. And just like air, thoughts are invisible, yet they shape our entire reality. A thought is merely a thought because we think of it, for want of a better word. It is always mind over matter, or mind before matter. How we think — our thoughts — can be likened to radio signals in that both involve transmission of information. Thoughts are electrical and chemical signals in our brain, while radio signals are electromagnetic waves. Both carry complex information and can be influenced by external factors. Electricity involves vibrations at the atomic level; electrons moving through a conductor create electromagnetic waves which can be seen as vibrations in a broader sense. Everything is vibrational. Including us. Just because we didn’t watch a great tree emerge from a tiny seed does not mean the growth never happened. How many times have we walked past a magnificent tree and barely even seen it? Science is barely scratching the surface of what a tree, or any plant, is capable of via communication within its environment and each other. The same logic applies to vibration. We may not see it with the naked eye, yet everything is in motion, constantly vibrating, because vibration is intrinsic to matter itself.
How to Connect with Your Authentic Self
I am going to show you how to connect with the real you right now by doing just two simple things. This may feel a bit strange if you haven’t explored breathing consciously before, and that’s ok. Part of learning any new language and trying it out can make you feel clumsy and slide into the feeling stupid phase, I can’t do this negative narrative. Learning to understand ‘how’ we feel and connect with our introspective language is no different. It is a process.First, place one hand on your chest and one on your belly. Take a slow breath in and feel your belly rise, then your chest. Exhale slowly and feel everything settle. Do this three times. Now bring your awareness inside your body. Not to your hands, not your arms, not your legs, and not your head. Go deeper. Feel the energy within you. Feel it pulsing and alive. Do not try to control it, just notice it. The more attention you give it, the stronger it becomes. That is it, you have completed the first step. That energy is you. Without it your cells would not be alive, and nothing would exist. It is the force that keeps everything moving, connected, and whole. Now for the second step, which requires a little more awareness. Come fully into the present moment. Notice your surroundings and notice yourself but let go of the story. Forget your name, forget your gender, forget your background, your colour, your history. Release all of it. Remain with the simple sense of "I am". Not an identity, not a role, just the state of being itself. The quiet awareness that exists before any label appears. When you bring together the energy you feel within you and this pure state of presence without names, without stories, you meet the real you. No identity, no gender, no past, no category. You were never born and you can never die. You simply are, and always have been, and always will be. Time is an illusion. This is the true you: pure awareness, loving energy, light.
I remember being told by a monk in Thailand, “Stop with the monkey chatter. Learn to understand and stop expecting to be understood.” I remind myself of this often. Gaining clarity of how we are vibrational, quantum beings gives us the ability to change our world. Individually and collectively. It is very telling that as individuals and as a society we have been conditioned with the passing of time to think in isolation. The opposite of introspective is or outward-looking. Our society encourages this extrospective fracture through materialism, status, and the pursuit and accruing of monetary wealth. This looks different to different people and there is nothing intrinsically wrong with having or wanting nice things. From a vibrational stance, and the code therein, it very much matters how we achieve them, as all energy is an exchange and with exchange comes an energetic contract and consequence. But we are not separate. The Hopi people, an indigenous nation who have lived in northeastern Arizona for thousands of years, preserved ancient wisdom about humanity's interconnectedness long before modern science could explain it. They didn't leave us poetry; they left us a map. They spoke of a global web covering the Earth long before the internet existed. We are connected by an invisible lattice of thought, breath, and energy.
As a child, I navigated two worlds. The visible one everyone else inhabited, and the subtle one that only I seemed to perceive. This silence wasn't born of fear, but rather an innate understanding that such experiences weren't part of others' normal reality. I watched entities move through spaces others saw as empty, felt energies shift and swirl in supposedly empty rooms, all while maintaining an outward appearance of ordinary childhood. This double life of perception became my normal. It wasn't until my late teens and early twenties that I finally began to give voice to these experiences. I began to understand that my neurodivergent perception, rather than being a liability, was actually a sophisticated instrument for sensing the subtle layers of reality. Like a person who loses their sight and develops heightened hearing, the necessity of keeping my experiences private had made them more acute, more refined. What others had labeled as dangerous or "peculiar" was, in reality, an enhanced sensitivity to the vibrational nature of existence.
The Breath That Opens the Door
Air is the element of the mind, of communication, of the invisible currents that carry information. It is the breath that opens a portal between the physical and the subtle body.
In this book, we will explore the "Subtle Self." This part of us exists beyond the physical, nestled within the vibrational energies that connect us to our universal realm. I invite you to come with me with me into the layers of your existence, where intuition, energy, and consciousness converge. The spaces between thought and action. We often overlook energy, frequency, and vibration as mystical, even whimsical notions. Yet, understanding these forces encourages personal growth and form a deeper connection with the world around us. From the chakras of Eastern philosophies to the subtle body understood in Western science, we will explore the diverse traditions that honour the subtle self generally forgotten within our culture. So, let us begin with the breath. Not just the automatic reflex that keeps the body alive, but the conscious intake of spiritus. The breath that attunes us to higher frequencies.
Below is a practice I use to align with celestial frequencies. It is an intuitive exercise, meaning that rather than following rigid steps, you allow your own energy field and perception to guide the experience.
PRACTICE: Attuning to the Sirian Frequency — A Breath and Sound Exercise
In my journey of exploring vibrational linguistics, energy perception, and breathwork, I have discovered that sound and breath serve as gateways to higher frequencies. One such frequency, long revered across ancient cultures, is the vibrational stream of Sirius, the brightest star in our night sky. Many traditions, from the Egyptians to the Dogon people, have spoken ofSirius as a source of spiritual knowledge and cosmic energy, influencing the evolution of consciousness through breath, vibration, and resonance.
This is an invitation to explore, to listen, and to align with the resonance of Sirius and the infinite field of harmonic being.
Preparing for the Attunement
Find a quiet space where you will not be disturbed. If possible, do this at night, preferably when Sirius is visible in the southeast sky. If indoors, you may wish to place a soft blue or white light nearby, as Sirius often appears as a brilliant bluish-white star. This all helps with the power of intention.
Take a few deep breaths and set your intention. Example Intention: “I open myself to the vibrational wisdom of Sirius. Through breath, sound, and awareness, I align with the energy that is meant for me in this moment.”
Step 1: Sirian Breathwork – The Celestial Pulse
Begin by breathing intuitively, rather than counting or structuring your breath.
● Inhale through the nose slowly and deeply, allowing the breath to expand naturally.
● Pause at the top of the inhale, don’t force it, simply notice when your body is ready to exhale.
● Exhale through the mouth, releasing any tension or stagnant energy.
● Allow the rhythm of your breath to adjust naturally, observing any shifts in your energy or
perception.
Note: Unlike structured breathing techniques, this is about following the body’s instinct.
Some breaths may be deep, others shorter. The key is to listen to how your body responds to the energy field around you. As you breathe, visualise a soft blue-white light descending from Sirius, entering through your crown, and filling your body with pulsing waves of energy.
Step 2: Sirian Vibrational Toning – Activating the Sound Field
Once your breath feels naturally aligned, introduce sound into the practice. Rather than
selecting a predefined sound, allow the frequency to emerge from within.
● Start by humming (“Mmmmmm”), letting the vibration settle in your chest.
● If a natural shift occurs, allow the tone to extend into an open vowel, such as “Ahhh” or
“Oooo”.
● If a different sound or syllable arises, follow it; your voice is responding to the energetic attunement happening in real time.Alternative Method If No Sound Emerges: If no intuitive sound comes forward, use this simple vibrational sequence:
● “EEEEE” (like “see”) – Resonates with the crown chakra and celestial connection.
● “AWWW” (like “awe”) – Expands the heart centre, opening emotional perception.
● “OOOOO” (like “oh”) – Aligns with the flow of cosmic consciousness.
Repeat any tone that feels right for a few minutes. Allow yourself to be led by where you feel resonance rather than thinking about it analytically.
Step 3: Sirian Light Transmission – Receiving the Frequency
Once your breath and sound have established a vibrational state, shift into silent listening mode.
● Close your eyes and visualise Sirius pulsing in the sky.
● Imagine a thin stream of blue-white light extending from Sirius into your crown,
illuminating your mind’s eye.
● Allow your awareness to expand, noticing any sensations, colours, sounds, or energetic
shifts.
● Silently ask: What vibrational knowledge am I ready to receive? How can I integrate this
energy into my being?
Remain in this state for 5-10 minutes. You may not receive direct messages, but rather a
feeling, a knowing, or an energetic adjustment.
Step 4: Integration & Grounding
Once you feel ready, begin to bring your awareness back to your body.
● Place your hands over your heart and take a few deep, grounding breaths.
● Move your fingers, toes, and shoulders to return fully to the present moment.
● Drink water to integrate the energetic shifts into the physical body.
Reflection
Prompt:
After practicing this attunement, reflect on:
● What sensations, images, or thoughts emerged?
● Did any specific tones or breath patterns feel stronger or more natural?
● Did you notice a shift in your energy field or perception?
This attunement is a doorway, one that continues to reveal more the deeper you go. As we breathe, we remember. We remember that we are not isolated beings trapping oxygen in biological sacks. We are antennas. We are receivers. We are vibratory instruments playing in a symphony we are only just beginning to hear again. The breath is the first step. It is the silver cord that anchors us here while allowing us to touch the infinite.
My journey began with a question mark on my forehead and a view from a window that showed me more than I was prepared to see. But the journey continues with the breath. It continues with the realisation that the "peculiarities" were just the beginning of the conversation.
Welcome to the frequency of Air.
This was a very interesting book to read. There are definitely parts of the author's philosophy on life that don't totally mesh up with mine, but a lot of the book provided excellent food for thought and a chance to reflect on my own life's journey up to this point. Some of the book feels very ethereal, other parts feel very down to earth. It incorporates anecdotes and stories, very much like a memoir, but also tips and instructions for meditation and reflection.
As the parent of two neurodivergent children who is very like neurodivergent myself, I also appreciate the brief chapter on neurodivergence. I love the author's perspective on the rise of diagnoses such as ADHD or autism - wondering if part of it is just a greater recognition of these different ways of thinking, and that it wasn't necessarily a disorder, but more like different capacities. That's one way that my kids and I have tried to look at it. Obviously it doesn't sugarcoat the very real struggles that can happen when you think differently, but it does look at neurodivergence with more of a sense of appreciation, wonder, and curiosity.
That was really what I got out of this book the most. Whether or not it was what the author intended, I found that this book inspired curiosity in my reflections, thinking about how our stories were similar and how they were different, and why. I like the idea of intuition and exploration, and how we can get more in sync with the world around us through reflection and growth.
I'm glad I had a chance to read the author's story - and I like the perspective that arrival can actually be the starting point of a journey. This is a good book for encouraging exploration, wherever we are on our journey.
