The purpose of this book is to help men and women in their late teens and twenties navigate the uncertainty often felt at their age. Everyone has gone through life with a set of fixed goals moving you from one finish line to the next start point. Elementary school turns to middle school. You go to high school and potentially go onto college. At some point, the education ends and you are dropped into the ocean of adulthood, able to choose any direction you want.
This point in your life can seem scary because you may not know where you want to start. You can have many interests pulling you in different directions. I wish someone had written a book like this when I had gotten out of high school. So, with that in mind, I wrote it for someone else in the world who may be the younger version of me.
Everyone is on their journey through life, learning skills, making friends, and overall, just growing into who they will become. I am not here to take that away from anyone. My goal here is to accelerate the unpleasant part. The part of life where you feel as though you have the stress of the world and its weight on your shoulders. I want to provide a clear and incremental path from point A to point B.
Much like when I went through these years in my life, I am sure those going through them now are hit with so many things they could be doing to better themselves. There are countless,
self-help books, courses, job opportunities, and, worst of all, business opportunities that turn out to be shams. You will have people you trust try to guide you down paths that might not necessarily align with who you are. You will have friends who move ahead in life, and it will seem they have it all figured out. There are a lot of twists, turns, and changes that happen in a short time. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, you either learn quickly or crack under the stress. I have seen it happen and, though it is sad, it is understandable.
I wrote this book at first as a guide for myself and how I had grown over the past few years, but after seeing the bigger picture I realized the value it could provide to someone else like me. I wanted to create a book that acted as a blueprint for navigating this chapter of my life. Something that was straightforward and step-by-step. Something that contained all of the knowledge I had gained from the countless books I had read, the courses I had taken, and the real-life experiences I had. A book that really costs me about $150,000 in experiences all summed up (and no I am not including college tuition in that).
I wanted certainty that this book would not become lost in translation. I sought to create a book that could be worked through at a pace set by the reader. A book that, when worked through properly and diligently with a notebook on the side, could accelerate the reader’s journey so much that their skillset, confidence, and maturity became what it would have otherwise taken years to achieve.
Finally, a book that did all of this and did so at a cost that was accessible to nearly everyone at high school graduation. I had spent too much learning this information and didn’t want that younger version of me to do the same. I wanted them to be able to acquire this knowledge and reference it all in one place. I understood that in some cases it takes money to make money, but this book would circumvent that barrier. Rather than have someone go through the growing pains themselves, I wanted a book that took the knowledge that costs six figures and turn it into something that costs them one.
This book is simply a letter to my younger self.
While I am not in my late teens or my twenties, I have been working with this age group for years. I was interested in reviewing Minor to Millionaire because I am always on the hunt for resources that can help the young people I work with. In Minor to Millionaire, C.J. Dinsome provides a step-by-step guide for young people who are seeking direction in their lives and wish to learn about investing and money management.
As a big believer in the concept surrounding this book, I am always happy to see books like Minor to Millionaire. I am even happier when the focus is on the younger folks because sometimes, I think adults take too long to rope them into matters like these. I see Minor to Millionaire as a gentle reminder to young people that they are not too young to start planning. This should also serve as a reminder to the adults in their lives.
C.J. Dinsome uses his own experience to guide young people who are uncertain about the future. Perhaps from Minor to Millionaire could be in the gift bag of every high school graduate; I think they could benefit from the nuggets between the pages. I do not know of any young person who does not value financial independence so Minor to Millionaire might just be the thing to take their eyes away from social media for a moment.
Minor to Millionaire is written in three parts. Part one discusses how to find your identity, while part two focuses on topics related to active income. The third part is where you will learn about passive income and investment skills. C.J. Winsome provides valuable lessons, exercises, and examples for the reader. The 20-day challenge is a bonus that the reader can use to practice what they have learned from the book.
If you are seeking to learn about generating active and passive income before you are too old to spend it, then pick up a copy of Minor to Millionaire. The book is geared towards people in their late teens and twenties, but you can benefit from the lessons in Minor to Millionaire regardless of your age.
