Fox Who Can Wait uses adorably drawn forest animals, fun rhymes, and bold colors to show kids why good things come to those who wait.
In the forest, four forest friends decide to cook up some fun with a cooking contest. Who shall judge the cooking contest? Owl, who is not only offering her refined palate but also dazzling readers with her flair for fashion. Owl wasn't the only animal fashionista. Mole looked cute in his red beret, and Rabbit was quite dashing in their bowtie. Bear also looked sweet in their overalls, and I loved each apron design!
Fox Who Can Wait artwork was spectacular, and the story didn't disappoint either. Readers will watch animals pour, chop, stir, and add the ingredients to their pots. Readers will also witness the animals' lack of patience during the cooking process. Three of the four animals would not keep the lid on their pot, allowing the ingredients time to soften, blend, reach the right consistency, or reach the proper temperature. Their lack of impatience led to each final product not tasting very good. But one animal demonstrated patience, resulting in a palate-pleasing pot of food!
Fox Who Can Wait offers a meaningful moral lesson about patience that parents and teachers will find valuable for guiding children beyond the kitchen. Whether your child has or lacks patience, Fox Who Can Wait is an excellent addition to your home, class, or library. There were a few places where the artwork overshadowed the dialogue, but overall, it is a wonderful book with a great moral lesson!
Amazon's recommended age bracket is from baby to 7 years. The bright colors and fun designs of the animals and insects, like the snail's unique shell, will appeal to kids of all ages. The lesson on patience, though, is geared more toward pre-K through second grade.
