About the author

Jaylee Wade is a UK-born writer and educator who knows a thing or two about being the eldest daughter. As the big sister to two younger brothers, she’s been navigating the ups and downs of family dynamics her whole life.
Her experiences through these roles—both personally and professionally—are what inspired her to better understand the unique pressures on eldest daughters.
With a background in teaching and years spent working with kids, Jaylee’s seen firsthand how birth order can shape our emotions and development. Her experiences as a mom have only deepened her understanding of family relationships and the expectations often placed on girls in leadership roles.
Now, as a full-time writer, Jaylee focuses on creating books that help kids thrive emotionally. Her mix of personal experience and professional know-how makes her a relatable and insightful guide for eldest daughters looking to balance their own needs with the responsibilities they carry.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2024As I read through this book I saw too many similarities to my childhood and life as the eldest daughter, the expectations placed upon me and my responses and reactions. I could also understand, appreciate, and sympathize with some of the examples of eldest daughters in other cultures and socioeconomic circumstances. I appreciated the chapters on affirmations and boundaries, the use of quotes, and even the examples of songs. This book is written in plain, clear language and short sentences. It's easy to read, and says a lot. I expect the author is an eldest daughter, too. Well done! I shall recommend it to my friends who have also lived with the expectations of being the first born daughter.
