Another wonderful journey into the imagination with Ballerina Konora, perfect for young dancers everywhere!
Brielle’s Birthday Ball is the 6th Dance-It-Out creative movement story where kids take the imagination stage.
It's a beautifully illustrated was-it-just-a-dream adventure packed with movement concepts and subtle life-lessons.
A perfect birthday gift for a child ages 3-7 who loves to move and dance, this particular installment in the series centers on a middle-of-the-night birthday surprise that goes to the moon and back, with fantasy, celebration, sweet treats, and of course a whole lot of dancing!
Every story in the Once Upon a Dance series takes young readers on a journey into the imagination where they don’t just listen, they dance it out, too! Perfect for young active children who get so excited at story time they can’t sit still, these stories encourage listeners to get up and move as they imagine themselves in the story.
Illustrations on the left side of each page accompany the book’s read-out-loud text and photos of the lovely Ballerina Konora acting out the story and encouraging readers to do the same.
In this new way to dive into storytelling through active listening, readers are encouraged to get up and move along with Brielle and Konora and the magical creatures on the moon as the story unfolds.
When my kids were little, they would get scolded for fidgeting or dancing during story time at the library or in class. What the librarians didn’t take into account is that some children - many children - listen best when they are moving and acting out what they hear. If your reader is anything like my kids, they will really appreciate Once Upon a Dance’s unique approach to story time.
And for those young dancers out there who simply can’t sit still while they listen, put on a little light piano music in the background as you read to accompany story time. You just might see Brielle’s birthday magic come to life right in front of your eyes!
I have been reviewing books for NetGalley for several years and have shared my reviews on Goodreads and Twitter with my followers. I have written more than 30 books for children and adults and read 1-2 books per week.
