Do you find farts funny? Have you ever thought, after you broke wind, now that is an impressive fart? Have you ever let out a silent stinker and waited for the smell to hit others, smiling as you clear a room? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this is the book for you! Readers will laugh at the colorful gas clouds that rocket from the costumed contestants. I loved so many of the illustrations that I could not favor one over the other. That says a lot about the talent and creative mind of the artist Clarissa Corradin. The writer, Junia Wonders, also had me laughing with their rhymes. Superhero fans will find it amusing to know that some superhero farts smell like old stew. GROSS! Disney fans won't be able to look at the Little Mermaid again without laughing after learning mermaid farts propel boats like wind on a sail. Quite the visual, huh?!
While farts are funny business, there was a secondary point to the story; it was to educate children that farts are normal. Releasing them makes your tummy feel better. So, release your gas—maybe not silent but deadly ones at the dinner table. Save those for after everyone eats!
Reading A Halloween Farty Party might cause your child to expel some gas, but that's okay. Farting is a natural body function! I recommend sharing this book with your family or class, especially as we near Halloween. I also suggest reading "Let’s talk about farts," located in the final pages. Oh, and remember to go on a pumpkin hunt! A pumpkin in a bow tie is hidden on every spread of this book. See if you can find them all.
I don’t know if a fart party will catch on in real life, but I can see kids practicing just in case their parents or teachers decide to throw one.
I recommended sharing this hilarious story with kids as young as 2.
