Loved it! 😍

A colorful book with rhyming prose that makes children aware of diversity and teaches them love and tolerance

Synopsis

It is a colorful day of celebration. Soon, the streets will be filled with people of all kinds, who will march in the festive Pride Parade. Miss Rainbow is ready to paint the city with her hues and colors, to fill every corner with love and pride. When the Witch of Shame appears, she threatens to ruin the great party.

Celebrating the unique day of Pride Parade, A Day of Pride teaches the importance of acceptance and tolerance. It encourages children of all kind to be proud of themselves and accepting of others—exactly as they are. Invite your kid to an empowering and exciting journey on a magical day where everyone has a place.

We live in a world filled with hate, intolerance, and bigotry. Our leaders aren't really setting a good example in this regard. However, there is always hope while people are pushing back and fighting for their right to express themselves as they are.

I believe that we can bring about a greater change in society by starting with our children. This is where this excellent picture book about the Pride Parade plays an important part in educating children about concepts like tolerance, acceptance, and love.

Written in rhyming lines, the story describes the Witch of Shame attempting to shame people into hiding their true colors and making them feel inadequate about who they are. Then Miss Rainbow arrives to banish the Witch and tell the people that there is nothing wrong with them and that they don't need to conform to society's standards of what is right and what is wrong.

It introduces the concept of a family with two daddies or two mommies, which, in my opinion, isn't something that is still widely accepted or taught in the world. By sensitizing children towards an all-encompassing love, this book is an attempt to fight against the discrimination and hate faced by the LGBTQ community.

It helps that the illustrations are beautiful, reminding me of the fairy tales I used to read as a child. The illustrations take center stage and the text acts as a supporting character, propping up the narrative solidly. It will leave a deep, lasting impression on the reader, especially a young child.

I would recommend this book as a conversation starter around accepting oneself and others for what they are and the purpose of the Pride Parade. So glad that such books are being published!
