A dark collection of soul-wrenching poetry in three parts: dark, beautiful and life, which focuses on domestic violence, sexual assault, feminism and mental health with a balancing edge from love and life adventures including topics and themes relating to modern day society and youth. It is wrapped in satire and darkness, where trauma sufferers feel most comfortable, and explores life searching for the light, while still finding beauty in the darkness. While discussing heavy topics, it is easy to understand from the survivor's perspective and it’s like a walk down a scary, dark path, but I have already lit the way with pretty lanterns.
This collection is a dedication, a strong warrior voice and a book of empowerment describing in detail the trauma some women have suffered and is a voice for the ones who have not yet spoken. It sheds a light on subjects that most shy away from and is designed to remove any stigmas so an open conversation can begin. This book is about awareness, which packs some punches in the form of harsh realities and truths where people can find themselves and write their own ending, knowing they are not alone and that we are listening.
To all the Women out there who are yet to find their voice –
