If you thought Bible quizzes were boring, think again!
David Olawale Ayinde’s A Biblical Quiz Book offers a lively Q and A series of challenges that may have you scratching your head or diving into the original text in search of answers!
Four hundred and twenty-five well-researched, intriguing questions from both the Old and New Testaments are presented in a combination of True or False and multiple choice formats. They include Who, How, What, Where, and Why questions as well as “briefly describe” or “explain why or what” challenges.
Some are pretty easy :
- Where can the book of Exodus be found in the Bible?
- How long did the flood last in the Book of Genesis?
- Who was Esau?
- Discuss briefly which Christian follower was martyred first in the Book of Acts.
- Which disciple tried to walk on water when coming to meet Jesus Christ in the Bible?
You may have to put on your thinking cap for others:
- Briefly explain why you think John’s Gospel is not part of the Canonical or Synoptic Gospels.
- Mention the name of Gad and Asher’s Mother.
- Who was Asenath?
- What does Gershom mean in the Bible?
The multiple choice section includes a quote or reference from a biblical passage followed by several options from which the player must select the correct answer. As in, “What biblical character said (or wrote) the following?” Hints as to chapter and verse are sometimes provided. (Answers are provided at the back of the book.)
This book is an engaging, enjoyable way to not only test your Bible knowledge, but to also challenge you to increase your biblical literacy when/if you find out how much you don't know! Also included is a Gallery section featuring color photos of some of the personalities, sites and stories mentioned in the quiz.
There’s no pressure here. You either know the answers or you don’t. It’s okay either way. In the event of the latter, grab your Sword and start sharpening!
The format is relaxed and straight forward. There are no “trick” questions to trip you up. Just unadorned interrogatories posed in different styles. All are designed to encourage a deeper dive into God’s Word without being "preachy."
This book is a lot of fun. You might think of it as a print version of biblical “Jeopardy!” Pastors, youth leaders, para-church ministries, Sunday school classes and individuals will benefit from and enjoy A Biblical Quiz Book. It's more interesting than most sermons and way more fun than a classroom lecture!
