This poetry anthology is a mix of classic and contemporary, feelings and thoughts, songs and ideas. As I read each piece I thought about how it relates to me or doesn't, and if what the author is writing is authentically representative of who they are. I found that each poem has an individual idea that any reader can find some connection to. As I was reading I made notes of the poems that particularly struck me in differing ways. One of the most prevalent themes seems to be being true to yourself and being the best you can be. It is clearly evident in many of these writings that the author is a capable music writer as you can hear the rhythm in many verses.

Here is a brief synopsis of some of the poems and which were for me the most relatable or impressive. #11, Inevitable, was so relatable to me in thinking about the current atmosphere of the US in 2022. #12, Winner's Circle, was one of the best in the book, along with #73, Window. #29, Cask, was one of the most beautiful of all the verses. #39, All the Cards, was very relatable as was #67, Watch over me/I miss you, as I have lost some loved ones who were especially close to my heart. #73, Window, was one that should be plastered on every billboard around the world and #86, True Art, tells us how to express ourselves in the absence of those same billboards. Finally, #95, Masterpiece, implies we are all fine pieces of art, all different and all unique.

Overall, I found this book of poems to be uplifting and a positive read. Some of the poems were worded in ways that clearly convey directly spoken feelings, many of which were understandable but not as relatable. With poems from various authors included there were many examples of poetry that bring to view multiple writing styles. I gave this book three out of five stars because it is definitely worth reading but some of the poems are slightly repetitive in nature, making the one hundred poems seem like a lot less.

Despite any deficiencies in this reader's perspective, the anthology is a beautiful representation of true feelings from true individuals.

Excuse me for exuding my confidence I just have plans to be one of the greatest

I don’t plan on being homeless or living pay check to pay check

I gotta be amazing, I’m gonna be amazing

Sometimes my mind is troubled but I cleared through all the hazing

Brought girls daffodils and daisies, roses and maybes

maybe I could see them in my future long enough to have them phase me

I don’t love that easy

I don’t trust that easy

I no longer conceal what’s in my chest

After my grandmother’s soul went to rest

I love my family the best and I will make sure there at peace

For the world is a battlefield, gotta make sure my core stays at ease

I’ve forgiven

That’s my religion

I’m so dramatic

I’m so misunderstood

All I want is good

Everything good

When good is good

And times are great

And finances boom through my estate

I want the whole world to be free

Like experience is always god given

I’ll carry her to the top of the mountain god willing

Buy my mom a house

A mansion for me to swim in

The car an girl that I want

And my business plans to take off

Free us from doubt top notch

Nothing gets you worried

You are not stricken by fear or the thought of a hurry

Everything I want I will attain

All I say will come to pass

I’ll soon be living my dream

I know it all will all last

Thank god I’m free at last
