Hi! Thank you for considering me as an editor. I started out in academic publishing in 2010 and moved from there to indie trade publishing. I honed my skills under the mentorship of outstanding industry professionals from every part of the publishing world, not only editorial but also production, sales, and distribution, so I have been blessed with a very well-rounded education on how the industry works. I've coordinated publishing programs of up to 30 books/year. While I'm comfortable editing all kinds of books, most of my past projects have been in nonfiction, memoir & biography, literary fiction, and young adult contemporary fiction.

I am a US-UK Fulbright scholar and a two-time finalist for the Bath Novel Award and Bath Children's Novel Award for my own writing. My background as an intercultural educator and interfaith facilitator, with research interests in the history of religion and nonviolent communication, all play an important role in what I do. After traveling the world, living in Japan and England while visiting plenty of other places along the way, my identical twin sister and I adopted children together and settled in Idaho just down the road from the sheep farm where we grew up.

EDITORIAL APPROACH - EDITORIAL ASSESSMENT & DEVELOPMENTAL. I work from the book outward. This means I look at what the actual words on the page convey about your vision, the story told, and the overall messages & themes. Then I research comparable titles in similar genres and ask any necessary follow-up questions of you to fully understand where the project has its best shot of success with readers. I write an in-depth edit letter that includes rough-draft back cover copy and a list of comp titles, followed by a detailed discussion of the strengths and weaknesses of the manuscript, with examples. I'll always make more than one recommendation for a concern I raise, and I leave the final decision in your hands. For developmental editing, I'll also mark up the manuscript itself and include a careful second pass over the manuscript to offer final feedback.

EDITORIAL APPROACH - COPY EDITING. Copy editing and more in-depth line editing is my "first love" in publishing. It's where I got my start! I am absolutely meticulous and follow the Chicago Manual of Style down to the very last comma. Having worked with both literary and commercial fiction, along with complex academic texts, I understand how to adapt my level of editing to your intended readership. I will ensure that no elements are missing from the text and take special pride in finding consistency errors that others would miss. I can also label or code elements of the manuscript for production if needed.

Family Empires, Roman and Christian: Volume I Roman Family Empires

Susan M. (Elli) Elliott

Family values in the Roman empire centered on an all-powerful father-owner-master of each household and of the empire itself. Many imperial subjects, including early Christians, resisted this form of family. Elliott’s review of first-century struggles over family values offers insights for understanding similar conflicts today.

Galatians and the Rhetoric of Crisis: Paul - Demosthenes - Cicero

Nina E. Livesey

The Apostle Paul employed strategies to win over his audiences. At times his desire to oust his opponents overrode any loyalty he may have felt toward any particular reading of the Jewish scriptures. Indeed, Paul exhibits no angst over adapting scriptures to suit the needs of his situation. The Folly of God: A Theology of the Unconditional (God and the Human Future)

John D. Caputo

Inspired by Paul Tillich's suggestion that atheism is not the end of theology but is instead the beginning, and working this together with Derrida's idea of the undeconstructible, Caputo explores the idea that the real interest of theology is not God, especially not God as supreme being, but the unconditional.
