I'm an experienced proofreader and editor, mainly in the fields of textbooks and academic writing. I've worked across a diversity of subject matter, from archaeology to tourism to counselling to mathematics and I love to learn something from everything I read. My aim is always to preserve the writer's voice whilst enhancing the readability of their work, always with the audience in mind.
I'm skilled at working to a brief and a timeframe and I believe that keeping an open line of communication with authors or production editors is key to creating the best product possible. I enjoy getting to know those I work with - that way, I can provide suggestions and gentle challenge to provoke discussion. However, if that's not your style, I'm equally happy to follow your brief and stay out of your way!
I have an eclectic background, with undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in engineering, a postgraduate certificate in behaviour change and a full airline transport pilot's licence in addition to my editorial qualifications. I'm currently studying for a humanities degree in my spare time. I've worked in finance, the oil industry and as an airline pilot so I bring an unusual breadth of experience and skills to the table.
I look forward to collaborating on your next project ...
