I have over a decade of publishing experience that includes work with traditional stalwarts, such as Random House, as well as more cutting-edge operations like Harlequin’s digital-first imprint Carina Press and Amazon Publishing. My most recent in-house position was as the commissioning editor for Angry Robot’s crime fiction imprint Exhibit A Books. Books I've edited have been chosen as the best of the year by USA Today, Library Journal, and others.

Angry Robot Books

November, 2013 – July, 2014 (8 months)

I worked remotely for an award-winning genre publisher where I sourced, edited and promoted Angry Robot’s range of crime fiction titles under the Exhibit A Books imprint. This included reading and reporting on submissions, promoting promising titles to sales and marketing, preparing P&L analysis to support proposed acquisitions, negotiating contracts with authors and agents, maintaining and updating the production schedule, providing structural and line edits on acquired titles, managing the proof reading, copy editing, and production processes and staff, and working with the publicity manager to create a promotion plan for each author. I maintained the social media feeds and website for the imprint as well., writing weekly and special blog posts, and managing the official Twitter feed Facebook page, and Instagram feed. Copywriting duties included all back cover copy, catalog copy, website copy, and front cover strap lines when appropriate.

I worked remotely for Harlequin's digital-first imprint Carina Press across mystery, thriller, science fiction, and fantasy genres. I reviewed submissions and recommended acquisitions, composed detailed revision letters, worked with authors through developmental and line edits, and managed and approved copy editor’s changes. I also participated in evaluation of cover design and occasionally contributed to marketing copy including back cover and catalog copy.
