Sinecure is an independent publishing house dedicated to producing books and records of 20th/21st Century popular art, music, and photography. Started by Johan Kugelberg and Eothen Alapatt, Sinecure has offices in New York and Los Angeles.
I act as the primary designer, image editor, and project manager for many Sinecure Books publications. Some of these titles include: "Sounds of Two Eyes Opening; Photographs by Spot" and "Buddy Esquire: King of the Hip Hop Flyer."
Boo-Hooray is dedicated to the organization, stabilization, & preservation of archives that are representative of 20th & 21st century cultural movements. They publish catalogues, books, artists' books and LPs regularly, as well as arrange readings and performances.
I act as the primary designer, image editor, and project manager for many Boo-Hooray publications. Some of these titles include: "Renegades of Rhythm: DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist Play Afrika Bambaataa," "The Sinking Bear," "De Geer," "Bardo Matrix: A Bibliography," and "Piero Heliczer and The Dead Language Press: A Bibliography." I take photos and edit images for archival purposes as well as digital and print publications. I also manage a design team and coordinate with external vendors on a variety of projects including books, zines, merchandising, and more.
Spot landed in Hermosa Beach, CA in the mid-1970s. A serious musician, he helped build Media Art Recording Studio and stumbled into photojournalism via Easy Reader, the local news weekly.
