Overview
On this blue planet there are 7.6 billion stories being lived out every day in the ink of blood, sweat, tears,
despair, hope, help, joy and sorrow. People rally to a good story, one that reveals something raw and core, tragic and hilarious, difficult and beautiful. A good story feeds our souls. Why not yours?
How long have you said, “This year I’m going to write my book?” Just like I tell songwriters, if you haven't recorded your song, it doesn't exit till you can hand it to someone. If you are ready to turn your story into a manuscript ready to self-publish or put in the hands of book publishers, please consider me to ghost write your story, a non-fiction, real-life story worth telling and worth reading.
After earning a BA in English at TCU and two years of graduate work in literature at UT Austin, I spent 25 years in Nashville writing, recording, performing and producing music.
Songs are very short stories. Character, setting, action, tension, revelation and resolution (though not always) all packed into a three to four-minute ride. All rhyming in the right spots.
Perhaps my most successful and impactful song so far is called Via Dolorosa. In four minutes it simply describes Jesus carrying his cross through Jerusalem, the energy of the crowd, the guards, the agony, the purpose. I could not have predicted how far and how long that song would fly.
Some years ago I began turning my pen to longer genres. Holding a reader’s attention with only words in a blizzard of visual media requires not only a compelling story, but a verbal trail worth following. To date all of my published work is non-fiction but I am chipping away at some fiction as well. In non-fiction prose, I have had the privilege of connecting with other souls by revealing some of my own soul and story.
My most successful and impactful book, so far, is titled Letter to a Grieving Heart, published by Harvest House. It is approaching 50,000 in sales with a release of an interactive, journal version slated for summer of 2018.
Knowing that tens of thousands of people have been touched by my writing fuels my passion to write even more, and to encourage others to do the same.
Waiting, hesitating, cogitating and procrastinating may rhyme well but they waste precious time. Dreaming is hard work. As one of my favorite writers put it, "My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verse for the King. And my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer." Psalm 45:1
Let's spill some ink together. I would love to honor the soul of your story.
