Barbara Rogan - Editor

Long Island, NY

Author of 8 novels with 30+ years’ experience in publishing as an editor and literary agent. Love quality fiction: adult, YA, and MG.

Overview

I’m a writer who’s worked extensively in the NYC and international publishing industry, which is a bit like being both a coal miner and an energy executive. I’ve seen 8 novels of my own published (Penguin, S&S, Morrow) and I’ve midwifed the birth of countless others, as an editor and an agent. Thirty-plus years in the publishing business, as an editor, literary agent, and author, has given me high standards and a multi-faceted perspective on both the craft and the business of writing, which help me help my editing clients.

I love working with talented fiction writers, entering into their vision for their stories and helping them hone their craft so they can do them full justice. As a writer, I learned more from edits of my own books than in any other way; and that is what I aspire to offer my writer clients: a process that will result not only in a much-improved book, but also in enhanced skills they can apply to future books as well.
