Currently, Tony Buzbee is the managing attorney at the Buzbee Law Firm. His career began in 1997 when he worked as a briefing attorney in the Southern District of Texas for a federal district judge. From there, Susman Godfrey LLP hired him as an associate attorney. After spending a year with their firm, Buzbee ventured out on his own to start the Buzbee Law Firm in 1999.
Today, Tony Buzbee oversees over fifty employees in two offices and ten lawyers. While his career keeps him busy, Buzbee still finds time to devote to his community, as he currently serves on many boards. He was honored by Texas A&M University when the university named the Buzbee Leadership Learning Center after him. As a graduate of Texas A&M University, this tribute was particularly meaningful. Among other accolades, he has been profiled in numerous magazines, including the New York Times Magazine and Texas Monthly, and the National Law Journal named Buzbee as one of the top fifty “Premier” Plaintiff’s firms in the United States by Buzbee has collected more than $2 billion on behalf of his clients and has been involved in some of the most critical litigation in Texas and the United States. Buzbee has represented the Governor of Texas, Jimmy Buffett, Mexican states, and the Basque Country in Spain.
Tony Buzbee is also especially enthusiastic about the arts. An avid collector of sculptures and paintings, Buzbee has collected many of his named artists works at sales in New York, Europe, and Beverly Hills. He is always watching for up and coming artists, and he regularly can be found at Christie’s or Sotheby’s while art is being traded. Tony Buzbee is also a ravening reader and a regular author of poems. He is currently forming his second book of poems, to be entitled “Montana.” He composes most of his poetry at his home in the mountains of Montana. More recently, he has obtained an apartment in New York’s West Village where he intends to continue his effort to write the perfect poem. Furthermore, Buzbee is fond of the dramatic arts. He is partial to Broadway musicals, but any production involving his thespian kids (both attending theater school at USC) will always be his favorite.
Tony Buzbee manages more than fifty employees in two offices, and ten lawyers. His team manages and litigates more than fifty thousand cases at any one time. Buzbee is a national figure, who is sought out in every kind of case, all over the country. He believes in the intelligence of juries. He genuinely values the practice of law and the system as a whole. Tony Buzbee has gained the luxury of selecting the cases upon which he personally chooses to work. He has become the trial lawyer he is today by applying the skills he learned in the Marines—comprehensive preparation and ruthless execution. He trusts that the only way to reach a fair settlement for his clients is to prepare each case as if it will be tried. There is a real difference between those who “litigate” cases and those who try cases to verdict, in a court of law. Tony Buzbee has a proven track record of trying and winning cases, period.
