AJ Collins - Editor

Australia

I'm a fully accredited friendly editor who loves nurturing first time authors. I edit fiction and non-fiction from first draft to last.

Overview

I am a fully qualified and IPEd accredited editor with a degree in Professional Writing & Editing.

I offer a thorough, genuine service, providing honest feedback (sometimes what you need to hear, not necessarily what you want to hear). I believe in maintaining the integrity of an author’s voice while helping them reach their full potential as a writer.

I am experienced in the following genres: comedy-thriller, adventure-thriller, historical fiction, memoir, romance, YA, general non-fiction and fiction. I have also spent several years workshopping with authors who write science-fiction, fantasy, middle-grade and self-help books.

My corporate background, working with commercial legal documentation, means I have developed acute skills in attention to detail, and my entertainment management background of seventeen years means I have a flair for the creative.

Currently, I am Chief Editor of GO Festival Magazine and proofreader for the Victorian Writers bi-monthly magazine.

When not editing, I write novels, short stories, articles and blogs for business websites.

Venturing into the industry back in 2009, I have since written four novels, one of which was shortlisted for the YA 2015 Hardie Grant Egmont Ampersand Prize, and is currently with an agent. My short stories have been published in anthologies and read on Radio Queensland. I also won the 2010 Monash Lit Fest Short Story Award.

I would love to help you develop your work into a manuscript you can be proud of.
