Overview
I'm Marin (pronounced Marine), an assistant at a NYC-based literary agency with 2.5+ years of agent assisting experience under my belt. Since stepping foot into the publishing industry, I've handled and vetted through thousands of query letters for multiple agents, with an understanding of their diverging tastes as well as the current marketplace. Thanks to this, I've dipped my toes across a broad spectrum of work—from YA/middle grade to literary and upmarket fiction—which has allowed me to increase my versatility as a reader and give strong feedback regardless of genre. I'm here for whatever editorial needs you may have, but my specialty for a larger project includes an eye for pacing, thematic consistencies, and structure.
It excites me to no end to be able to look at a piece, step back, think about what the writer's intentions are (or at least how it conveyed to me), and communicate that to a writer. I'd love to work together with you to guide these intentions onto the page for your readers.
If you'll let me, let's together to ensure your work is polished to its strongest version and make sure your pitch stands out among the sea of other queries!
Projects I've worked on have placed competitively at both Big 5 and Indie publishers—Penguin Random House, Simon & Schuster, HarperCollins, Blackstone, and more!
In my spare time, I love to travel, dance, and hike.
